Accommodation

Wychwood was built to a Canadian design with some of the sleeping accommodation in a semi-basement (all rooms have windows), promoting coolness in the summer months and a cosy insulated and easily heated area in the winter months. The ‘raised’ ground floor consists of:

Large welcoming hallway

Kitchen/dining room – running the length of the house this triple aspect wooden floored room is the hub of the house with a lovely fireplace and large solid wood table. French windows overlook the Solent and Hampshire and Dorset coastline and lead onto a small terrace with seating. The kitchen is equipped with fridge, dishwasher, gas hob, electric double oven and microwave. There is a chest freezer in the utility room.

Living room – range of comfortable seating, TV/video/DVD, selection of DVDs

Master bedroom and en suite – comfortable super-king size bed, built in cupboards, French windows with views towards Hurst Castle and its lighthouse. The en-suite shower room has slate walls and floor, a walk in shower, sink and separate WC.

Rear lobby connecting house to swimming pool complex:

Separate WC and WHB

Rear door to patio

Door to pool room

Walk-in thermostatically controlled shower

Tiled floor to poolroom with ‘Poolsafe’ rubber compound non-slip flooring.

Poolroom with double French windows onto a paved patio and lawn.

20ft heated swimming pool depth sloping from 2.5ft to maximum 5ft.

6 person freestanding Jacuzzi with range of 52 jets and streams.

Stairs down to lower floor;

Spacious hallway leading to utility room equipped with a washing machine, tumble drier, chest freezer and double Belfast sink.

Bathroom with WC, bath and shower attachment.

Bedroom 2 is a large double room

Bedroom 3 has two 3ft single beds. There is a 'pull out' bed that is an additional bed or can convert one of the singles into a double bed

Bedroom 4 has two 3ft single beds

The hallway between bedroom 3 and 4 houses a great collection of books for all ages and is rather grandly referred to as the ‘library’.

The gardens around the property are mainly lawn. The front is more open to allow the wonderful views of the sea and mainland beyond but the rear garden is secluded and private, with patio table and chairs.

Parking

There is private driveway parking for 3-4 vehicles.

Fire and first aid

There are 2 fire extinguishers, one in the kitchen and one in the lower ground floor, next to the utility room. There is also a fire blanket and small emergency first aid box in the kitchen. Each floor has interconnected mains smoke detectors with battery back up. There is an additional carbon monoxide detector in the utility/boiler room.

Disclaimer

Wychwood is very much a private home and we have decided not to rent it out through an agency that would impose unnecessary conditions. Our 3 children have grown up here and their safety was always paramount. The gas and electric have annual safety checks. Obviously with an indoor swimming pool we have always supervised our children and their friends and we stress children must be supervised at all times. An additional lock has been added to the pool door for additional safety. However we cannot take responsibility for any injury in, say the pool or on the trampoline but we sincerely hope that with responsible use these are fully enjoyed.
